Awards have been presented to the winners of the 2025 Chrony Awards.
The Chrony Awards is a yearly recognition of one local business and one local non-profit that has made a positive impact in the Chronicle community.
Readers nominated businesses and non-profits in November and voted for their favorite nominees in each category in November and December.
In the Best Non-Profit category, L.O.V. (Love Our Veterans) Thrift Store earned the most votes by a wide margin and won the award.
Only two eligible charities were nominated for this category, the other being East Lincoln Christian Ministries of Denver.
“On behalf of all of our shoppers, donors, and volunteers, Love Our Veterans, a charity and a thrift store, would like to thank the Chronicle for this incredible award,” said L.O.V. co-founder and President Kevin Popko, “We’re humbled that we had so many people vote for us. We just helped veteran 121 [after doing this for] around three and a half years. We couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished in the community, in the Chronicle area, and the Lake Norman community. We’re humbled and very grateful.”
In the Best Business category, Lineberger’s Cattle Company earned the most votes and won the award.
“Thank you so much from our heart to [the community],” said Linerberger’s General Manager Amber Lurie. “We’ve been around here for a long time, and we just want to keep up the tradition.”
Butcher Boy Cafe earned the second most votes for the Best Business category.
The other nominated businesses included The Untouchables, Pit Stop Auto Service, Jimador Mexican Grill, Wild Gym, Causby Karate Academy, and Wicked Stitches & Sew Much More.
